Alp state conference erupts in violence, chaos, arrests as thousands of protesters take to streets to protest against military coup
'There should be accountability' in the military, she says, blaming her government's inaction and corruption on the country's political elite who are corrupt and greedy. She accuses them of orchestrating a coup that ended her own presidency and her government's political career
As President, she called for a national referendum on whether to allow Kurdish independence from the rest of Turkey, a decision that Kurds in Turkey say would be unconstitutional.
She also called for an international organization to enforce peace on Syrian territory as her government had previously failed to do. She called on Turkey to stop funding terrorist groups such as al-Nusra and Hamas.
On the eve of a key meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the Swiss city of Basel, she asked for an immediate cessation of violence from Syria and added that the OIC must work with other nations such as Russia and Iran, which have not yet agreed on any solution for the crisis in Syria.
"It is up to the OIC to help us to put into place a framework and framework that works in the interest of Syria, for people in Syria and for the region, for our peace, stability, prosperity and prosperity in the future," the Syrian leader said, calling on the international community to support them.
The U.S. State Department criticized the coup attempts as part of a long-term plan for political change in the region, saying: "Violence against Turkey's democratically elected leaders serves as a flagrant violation of the principles of democratic elections, human rights, secularism, and pluralism. It also risks exacerbating regional tensions."
The OIC must work with other nations such as Russia and Iran, which have not yet agreed on any solution for the crisis in Syria, the Syrian leader said, calling on the international community to support them
Turkey and Saudi Arabia joined the OIC and declared a regional ceasefire, after which Turkey responded by cutting off a large part of Syria in the south while it waited for an agreement from Damascus.
"Now the region, and Turkey in particular, must recognize the results of that crisis, which was sparked by the actions of the Assad regime and by its close ties with extremist groups like al-Nusra," Erdogan said in a speech, noting that some 50,000 people had been killed and 30,000 injured since the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad began in March 2011.
He said the OIC and other nations must work together to "maintain peace and stability in the Middle East and work to eliminate the threat of terrorism."

Facing a fear and learning to love flying, he finally took his seat next to the pilot.
"Well? You're the pilot of this thing?" She asked, curious.
"I'll just say it. I'm an EK-1. It's a new version of the Taurian Tango that's about to be built for us," said Filler. "The Taurus was designed to be a multi-role fighter, but I'm the one who's going to be putting these things into flight."
"It's no longer a multi-role fighter. This is a fighter, it's a fighter," he added, indicating an Atlas.
She gave him a quizzical look. "Do you mean something more than that, but not yet?"
"Aero. I used a lot of jetpacks. I actually managed to save up the money to purchase the last one. But aero isn't just a jetpack. The first thing you need is to get a plane. Aero is a way for the airplane to breathe, so that means getting that plane in the air. Then you need a cockpit, to be able to fly it."
"Can't fly without it?" she questioned.
"I can't. That takes too much time and space, and all the instruments. But yes, yes. I'll be piloting this Atlas."
"And why this?" she asked.
"I've wanted to try this for some time, because this is my favorite plane of all time," he said. "It's fast, it's quiet, it's strong. It's probably a lot easier than it looks, but it's also faster than a fighter. A lot faster. So I was going to go to New York and see some of these airplanes that are being built there. See if I could find a reason to want to fly them."
"So do you want to do what I did? That's great," she replied. "But your name's not in this article?"
"Of course. My name isn't there either. They've only given me this job for six months. And you, Mrs. Feeney, that's an article that's been going on for years."
"But you can't go back?" she said.
"Well, yes."
"The only reason I can see this happening is if I went somewhere like Japan. It would be dangerous. It would be like flying into a forest and there was a giant black bear in the forest. Then they put me to work repairing it. I'd then be able to go back and see what I can learn from the forest. If I could learn anything it might be abou

RSS, which runs a major newspaper, said the newspaper has a close relationship with the BJP and has been actively involved with the ruling party.
"They are making huge financial contributions to the party. They have supported the Bharatiya Janata Party's development, and so there is something in their heart," Vishwas Dutt, chairman of Bharatiya Newspaper Association of India, told PTI.
But some union leaders said the Congress and BJP, which want to portray as the Congress a Congress-BJP alliance, are only in power for electoral gain, as their support can't be questioned and their allies cannot be found to form the government.
They point out that the Congress and BJP are both headed by leaders who are more closely tied to the coal industry.
"The BJP has been in power and has a massive amount of business with the coal industry. As a leader in the coal industry, the leader of the BJP cannot talk to people who support these two parties," said Vishwas.
According to sources, the Congress's national party, the BJP, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and other political parties and activists are trying to build an alliance in order to ensure the party can control state institutions, which could help a party to gain in the national polls.

Both leaders admit no clear winner after new book suggests that the coalition should stand
Miliband and Cameron agree Britain has reached "point of no return", and are ready to go to war over a third of British territory
No one says a government has won, only a different one can be created: "Britain is not a country and our leaders must be accountable"
This week saw the launch of a new book called Britain's Third Way, which claims the prime minister is acting as part of an agenda that includes a return of empire, "Britain is no longer a country and we have reached a point of no return".
'There's no alternative'
The title comes from former Tory MP John Whittingdale's memoirs.
Whittingdale, who has been called one of the book's authors, admitted he has a point in publishing the book, adding: "There's no alternative to what our leaders are saying and the debate we're having is one which would serve our country.
"It's what we've been going through over the past three years. I've had a clear mandate from my constituents for all the changes that have taken place."
While Cameron may still lead the Tories if the election is called, Whittingdale, who is now a senior member of the Conservatives' national executive committee, believes the former PM will leave Downing Street if the book's recommendations are carried out.
'No other option'
A poll published last month suggested that 65 per cent of voters believe Cameron should remain prime minister in any future election.
The research also found 59 per cent of voters had the confidence of the prime minister, compared with 29 per cent who had less trust, according to YouGov.
Whittingdale has said if his book's recommendations are followed, he could be in line to take part in government.
However, the former Tory leader is not the only supporter of Britain's current approach to the region - fellow former cabinet minister and current Labour leader Ed Miliband has also written a book - and will likely be leading a united political effort, especially since it comes on the eve of the publication of a comprehensive plan for British and European defence cooperation by former military officer Sir Michael Fallon.
Mr Cameron is set to publish his defence review on Thursday.
There are at least two reasons for this.
Whittingdale's book argues that as the economy and government finances have stabilised, British defence budgets should be cut from 40 per cent of total foreign aid to just 15 per cent in order to restore balance.
And by cutting the spending of other states, such as other European countries, and using those savings to help rebuild Britain's foreign policy, he believes such a strategy could reverse a spiral of cut

Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and Kevin Durant were involved in a fight Wednesday in Tokyo, the day before the NBA All-Star Game, but the victims were lucky.
Witnesses told the Anadolu Agency that the three were fighting at a bar after midnight, the Kyodo News reported.
The victims appeared to have been beaten so badly that their stomachs and intestines burned, the Tokyo Post reported. It added that the victims died at a nearby hospital.
There have not been any charges yet, the newspaper said.
Kyodo News said the victims were "shocked" by what they learned from the "very serious" investigation.
"I could not believe the injuries they suffered -- they did not have no sense of shame or remorse, just a raging feeling," one witness told the newspaper.
The alleged fight lasted about 30 minutes, the paper said.
Bryant, a Golden State Warriors and former Chicago Bulls teammate, tweeted shortly after 8 p.m. he was "fine" after being "struck in the stomach by some friends at a bar."
"I'm OK at this point," he added in a later tweet.
Durant, a San Antonio Spurs power forward, was the last of the three to arrive, according to his Twitter bio, and his response was to send this comment: "Thx #Bryants and @Durant41 for coming to help."
Durant tweeted after Bryant's death: "My family, and everyone I have worked with, is hurting & shocked by the news of the passing of my brother @kobejbryant. I only knew Kobe for 15 years before his passing, and he touched so many people's lives. Rest In Peace. Love Kobe."
The three players were the most popular athletes in Japan and have garnered respect for their commitment to improving the country's economy.
As of Wednesday evening, they had generated nearly 4.25 million Twitter followers and 13 million Twitter followers, according to Anadolu Agency. Kobe averaged 20.2 million in 2009-10 with 8.2 million followers, according to Sports Japan's Top 300 list.
